Day 1: The Arrival

Before we decided to go on the drive
We sat side by side
We made it clear
It was no longer safe for us to be here
But our wallets were just as empty as our hearts
And we were tired
Tired of sitting
Side by side
But as we stepped into the car
Only to sit again
Side by side
To begin a ride with no place in mind
We grew even more tired
Tired of movement with no memory
And action with no thought
So we drove
And as the sun set
We stopped aside the road to rest
And as the sun rose
We woke in a place of peace

  1. I got the image of a family, maybe just two, escaping abuse, but being too broke to get a chance to settle down anywhere, so they just move around until they can't anymore. And then they pull over one night to sleep but the gas gets in and they wake up at peace. And it's said because it reminds me that sometimes death seems less sad than the life lived before it.

  2. I see a relationship with a problem unknown. I see the problem solved after a much needed break from said relationship. I eould tak more time to develop the imagery of exhaustion. Well done.

  3. I was just stuck visualizing the journey itself
