Day 6: Post poem (Post Trois: The Debriefing)

There were some oversights in planning
Our trip to unadulterated bliss
Before we departed for the journey,
We left one thing of the list.

We didn't think about after.
What would work the best?
When we were done being his lovers,
Who would sleep on his chest?

How would we divide the covers?
How would we make it fair?
What would you be doing with your hands,
While I was playing in his hair?

We forgot to think about after.
We didn't work in exactness.
Would we all fall into a satisfied slumber
Or judge ourselves in the blackness?

When daylight caught our bodies,
Who would rise and make the meal?
Which of us would lay in bed and recall
Details of how we made us feel?

We never considered the after.
Perhaps it was better left unsaid.
We all pulled back the sheets,
But no one wants to make the bed.

We were probably secretly wishing
That after never came.
That when it was all said and done,
There'd be no confusion, no fault, no shame.

We should have worked the logistics.
How do we go on now that its through?
Because now that its all over,
I struggle to be the same around you.

But now our passports are stamped with lust
And we have to talk about
How we took a trip to Ecstasy
And all we brought back was doubt.
